Sometimes when I tell people that I am amazed by feng shui and it’s wonders, I’ll be asked to quote how feng shui has actually helped me. I would reply “Well, (1) we get to bring my parents-in-law out every weekend, (2) my husband and I are very much in love after 20 years of marriage, (3) we have paid up our mortgage for our marital home, (4) we have money in the bank, (5) we have bought an almost new 2nd-hand KIA with a black car plate.” Depending on who I say that to, the more affluent friends will give me a look that says it all, like duh! what’s so fantastic about that? But people don’t understand. My husband and I are Oordinary people. Our parents paid for our university studies, and that was it. Everything else, we did it by ourselves! So when I tell you to look around for something to cheer you on – of course if you already stand to inherit your parent’s vast estate – then seeing that sleeping stray cat or that blooming flower is  pittance to you. But if you had to work for everything you owned, then you have to find something, no matter how small, to cheer you on! You say “Bah! Wait till I get that landed property in Corporation Road and I will be happy.” or “Wait till I earn my first million and I’ll be happy.”. If you can ‘battle on’ without encouraging yourself over small things, then you truly are a special breed. Congratulations! For the rest of us Oodinary people, waiting for that perfect day is our goal, so I suggest you always find opportunities to encourage yourself.
