24 Hour Playwriting Contest

Last weekend, I joined the 24-hour playwriting contest organised by Theatreworks (http://theatreworks.org.sg/singapore/the_writers_lab/17/24hr_playwriting_competition/index.htm). I was on the fence whether I should actually turn up because I had no idea what playwriting was. But the co-ordinator, Mr Ezzat, made it really easy for me to decide. He was so helpful – really – giving me suggestions on which books I could refer to in the library, and he even sent me a sample of how a script format looks like! I took that as an encouragement from the cosmic energies that I should give this contest a go! So I turned up, ‘suffered’ in the heat (there was no air-con, can you imagine!) for 24 hours, and managed to turn in a decent script. There! I did it! I survived the 24-hour playwriting contest, and if one day in the future I should make any opinions about it, I am qualified to do so because I was there! I will blog about naysayers in a bit. Stay away from naysayers! These people sabotage your good feng shui!
