Pictured here are the hand-held siphon pumps that I use to siphon water out of my fish tank. If you can, please buy the made in Korea ones, as I find they are of better quality. It will make changing the fish tank water job heaps easier. You will also need:
(1) drainage net that you can buy from Daiso
(2) a packet of small cable ties
(3) a cable tie cutter
(4) garbage bags
(5) a dedicated new kitchen cloth for your aquarium. There is no need to wash this kitchen cloth with laundry detergent.
(6) another dedicated fish pail (optional)
这照片里的手持式虹吸泵是我用的。 这个仪器可以让我轻轻松松的从鱼缸里把水抽出来 。如果你找得到，请购买韩国制造的手持式虹吸泵，我觉得它质量比较好。你可以在你家附近的‘五金店’ 买到。你还需要：
（1）排水网（可以在Daiso买到）
（2）小束电缆扎带
（3）扎带切割器
（4）垃圾袋
（5）吸水性好的厨房布（新的）。别用洗衣粉清洗这片鱼缸‘专用’的厨房布。
（6）另一个鱼缸桶（如果你需要）
Step (1)
Put 1 plastic bag into another plastic bag (double plastic bags), and sling the ears of the plastic bags onto your forearm. We are going to use our forearm strength to hold the dirty aquarium water.
P.S.: we use double plastic bags because I find that the manufacturing quality of plastic bags nowadays is quite bad. If you only use 1 plastic bag, you may have to deal with leaks out of small holes, and then you would have to mop the floor. 😅
P.S.: If you don’t want to use your forearm strength to hold the plastic bag of dirty aquarium water, then by all means get a pail (not your dedicated fish pail) and line the pail with plastic bags to hold the dirty aquarium water.
步骤（一）
将一个塑料袋放入另一个塑料袋（双层塑料袋）中，并将这两个塑料袋的耳朵吊到你的前臂上。我教你用你的前臂的力量来支撑装满肮脏鱼缸水的双层塑料袋的方法。
P. S. ：为什么使用双层塑料袋？ 因为我发现现在塑料袋的制造质量很差。如果你只使用一个塑料袋，可能肮胀的鱼缸水会从塑胶袋的小孔泄漏，如果你看不开‘浪费’一个塑胶袋， 你待一会可能要拖地。
P. S. ：如果你不想用你的前臂力量来支撑装满肮脏鱼缸水的塑料袋，你也可以用传统的方式啦！拿一个桶（不是你专用的鱼缸桶）来装肮胀鱼缸水。 我懒得用完了还要洗这第二个桶， 所以我用我的前臂。💪
Step (2)
Slip a drainage net over the hose mouth that goes into the tank. This is the normally the bigger mouth of the siphon pump, and it already comes with a detachable plastic sieve. Use a small cable tie to tie the drainage net, if you need to. This drainage net helps you, in case you accidentally suck out a fish fry or a small-sized fish. But still you need to be careful when you are siphoning water out.
Turn on the aquarium light. Insert the other hose mouth with the balloon into the plastic bag that you have slung over your forearm. Make sure that the water level in your fish tank is above the water level in the plastic bag that you are holding on your forearm. This means that the plastic bag is lower at any one time. The bigger mouth of the siphon (with the cable tie), please find an area inside the tank where there are no fish, and hold the mouth there. Squeeze the balloon completely about 4 times, and water will flow from the fish tank into the plastic bags.
Slowly go around the tank and try to pump out the fish poop. Be careful not to disturb any fish or fish fry or snails. It does not matter if you miss out some poop here and there.

慢慢的，把较大的手持式虹吸泵嘴口在鱼缸里慢慢绕，尝试抽出堆积的鱼类化合物和鱼类废物。小心不要打扰鱼缸里任何鱼或鱼宝宝或蜗牛。如果有些堆积的鱼类化合物和鱼类废物被困在狭窄的空间， 你吸不到不要紧。 更重要别打扰鱼缸里任何鱼或鱼宝宝或蜗牛。
If you want to stop the water flow, all you have to do is the press the hose mouth (that is inside the tank) smack onto the bottom glass. The water flow will stop temporarily. Look at the video.
如果你想停止水流，你只要按压在鱼缸里手持式虹吸泵较大的嘴口到底部玻璃上。水流将暂时停止。看看这视频。
Step (3)
When you have pumped out one-third of the water from your tank, quickly extract the hose mouth from inside the tank (the one with the drainage net and the cable tie). It does not matter if debris from the hose mouth falls back into the tank.
Throw out the plastic bag of dirty water. Some people like to water their plants with the nutrient-rich water, but I don’t have time to do that. And you can’t really leave dirty fish water out until the next day to use to water the plants, because it smells. You decide what you want to do with it.
Cut and throw out the cable tie and the used drainage net. Give the siphon pump (both outside and inside the hose) a quick rinse under the tap and wipe dry with the dedicated kitchen cloth. Do not wash the dedicated kitchen cloth with detergent after use. Just rinse with water will do. Let the siphon pump dangle somewhere, so that the water still trapped inside the hose can dry out. Or you can be like me, I just stuff tissue at either end of the hose mouth. To store it, I hang the hose and all the fish tank cleaning periperals just beside my fish tank. As you continue to read my blog, I find that when everything is within easy reach, more chores will get done quicker. A good way to hang this siphon hose is to use the biggest 3M hook, which I stick next to my tanks. I’ve taken a photo of how I do it.

每时每刻， 你都要看看塑料袋内的水位。 不要让它过高溢出，否则你要拖地喔。 😅 看到鱼缸的水抽出三分之一时，你可以停了。 快速地从鱼缸内取出手持式虹吸泵嘴口（带有扎带的那边）。如果吸着手持式虹吸泵嘴口的鱼类化合物和鱼类废物落入鱼缸不要紧。
把装满肮胀鱼缸水的塑料袋丢掉。有些人喜欢用这富含营养物质的鱼缸肮胀水去浇家里的植物，但我没有时间这样做。我也不想把肮胀鱼缸水留到第二天才用，因为我觉得这过夜的水闻起来很有鱼腥味。你自己决定你想怎么做。
用扎带切割器切断小束电缆扎带和用过的Daiso排水网， 把它们丢掉。将手持式虹吸泵（软管外部和内部）在水龙头下快速冲洗，然后用专用厨房抹布擦干。使用专用厨房抹布后不要用任何清洁剂清洗， 只需用清水冲洗即可。让手持式虹吸泵悬挂，这样困在软管内的水会滴干。你也可以像我一样，我把手持式虹吸泵两个嘴口用薄纸塞住。然后把手持式虹吸泵和所有鱼缸清洁‘器材’挂在我的鱼缸旁边。读者们， 你继续阅读我的博客后，你会发现我把清洁工需要用的一切都放在容易拿的地方，我觉得这么做更多杂事家务事会比较快完成。挂手持式虹吸泵的一个好方法是使用最大号的3M塑料钩子，我把它粘在我的鱼缸旁边。看看照片吧！
Top up the fish tank with the treated water that is in your dedicated pail. And voila! That’s it.
Be sure to mark your calendar when the next fish change water date is. I normally change a third of my fish tank water every Friday morning.
If you know that you are going to change water on Sunday, make sure that you use anti-chlorine to treat a pail of tap water on Saturday morning.
