He Is Washing Your Floor

Once a month, your town council will send a worker to wash your common corridor. If you are not sure of the block washing schedule, you can look at the notice board of your block, or you can call your town council (https://www.gov.sg/sgdi/other-organisations/town-councils) to ask. I am a great believer of energy, so I never fail to give this cleaner $2 coffee money, or a packet drink (especially on a very hot and sunny day) when he is washing the floor in front of my apartment unit. I get annoyed when I hear people say that these people are paid to wash the common corridors, so why should we give them money when we already pay service and conservancy charges (S&CC)? Of course we don’t HAVE to ‘tip’ them, but it would be nice if you showed him some appreciation for doing his work. And let’s be practical, these workers leave their hometown to come here to work for money. They earn a measly salary every month, and face endless complaints from residents. Be kind to him, and see him do a fantastic job of washing your corridor! It is worth your $2, trust me!
