HDB Feng Shui: Top Floor Corner Unit (1)

Introduction 介绍

Almost all HDB flats in Singapore have a tenure of 99 years. This unit was built in 1978, but it underwent a major renovation in 2017, thus making it a ‘Period 8’ flat.

This is the aerial view of the flat block. The unit is located at the far end of the corridor.

The residents at this end of the flat share a common lift that is located in the middle of that particular block of flats.

When you enter the flat unit, you have a choice of 2 facing directions. The first choice is where the entrance door is located. Looking out of the entrance door, the unit is facing N.

The second choice is to take advantage of the main window view, which has an excellent view! Looking out of the window, you are facing E.

I am more inclined to say that this facing E main window is the facing direction of the flat unit. This is the floor plan:

This apartment is spacious and airy, but in Feng Shui principles, it will be hard for this owner to save money. There are 2 reasons for this:

1. The ‘chi’ that flows in from the main window front entrance (in this case, the E facing main windows) flows out quickly, as shown by the red arrow that I have drawn. There is nothing in the path to slow down the chi from zipping right through and immediately out of the back windows.

2. It is better for the owner, if we are not able to see the back of the house at first glance. Why?

(i) if a person is able to see the back of his house from the entrance, then it ‘seems’ that the house is very small and short. Nobody wants to live in a small and short house, right?

(ii) if this is the view from the main entrance of the house, then as stated in the point (1), wealth comes in and immediately flows out. There is no time for the Feng Shui of wealth and good fortune to work at all.
